2. light it up – In The I’s Have It, Amma discussed how introversion manifested itself in the profession of student affairs, and how to live a life as a professional that allowed this element of your temperament to display itself naturally. In Light It Up, she extends that desire for natural expression to students, and discuss how to engage and support involved students through five stages of the involvement and leadership process: Recruitment Selection and Training Advising and Supervision Evaluation and Assessment Rewards and Recognition It also features essays from other professionals on how to support students as they seek to buck stereotypes of their temperament, avoid assumptions of shyness, and incorporate creativity into their routines.

Michele McPhee
Michele McPhee is a nationally recognized author as well as an award winning criminal investigative reporter. She has written 5 books and is in the process of writing a 6th on the Marathon Bombings. Michele will speak about her individual books or create a presentation around the commonality of her books. She has covered events from the Whitey Bulger trial to the events of 9-11 and the Boston Marathon bombing. Presently, she is covering the trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Joel Christian Gill
Joel Christian Gill uses the stories of minority peoples to explain that America is so much more than a collection of disparate interest groups. His comics use both historical events and dynamic illustration to illuminate why it’s important to celebrate black history 365 days a year. #28daysarenotenough
Joel is the author/illustrator of two books:
1. Strange Fruit Volume I – Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History is a collection of stories from early African American history that represent the oddity of success in the face of great adversity. Each of the nine illustrated chapters chronicles an uncelebrated African American hero or event. From the adventures of lawman Bass Reeves, to Henry “Box” Brown’s daring escape from slavery
2. Tales of the Talented Tenth, Volume One tells the story of Bass Reeves, an escaped slave who became one of the most successful lawman of the old west. Volume I chronicles his life from winning shooting matches in early childhood to traveling with his master, living with Native Americans in Indian Territory, and finally becoming a U.S. Marshal.
