What we learned from Neil Entwhistle and the Craig’s List Killer – A Lesson in Internet Safety

What Neil Entwhistle and the Philip Markoff taught us about safety and dating in the Internet age- Neil Entwhistle fabricated a persona of a well to do successful businessman. When the façade began to crumble and his lies about to be discovered Entwhistle killed his wife and child. Philip Markoff robbed 3 women and ended up killing one of them. All this could have been avoided by a few clicks of a mouse and a visit to the right websites. There was ample evidence to suggest that had these women done a little internet investigation they would have found out that these men either were not who they said they were and they were potentially dangerous. Today, more people do research on buying a vacuum cleaner or pair of headphones than they do on someone they are dating or planning to get involved with.

Michele McPhee takes you through those two fascinating and chilling cases and shows you how these two women could potentially be alive today. Michele’s presentation includes crime scene photos and details of the case that many people have never seen or heard of before. This presentation is not for the faint of heart but it provides valuable information on staying safe in the digital age. See Author Page for all her books.

Ground Level

Prior to the bombings of September 11th, 2001 you did not have to take off your shoes, belts and jackets to board a plane. Before Columbine and Jonesboro few schools had metal detectors or a police presence. Following the Boston Marathon security at public and sporting events took on a whole new meaning. Now that we have entered the internet age dating has for ever changed and it changed even more with the events triggered by the Craig’s list killer. These are the events that have shaped this generation and many of the generations that will follow them. Michele McPhee has covered all of these stories and more. For 90 minutes Michele will take you through these stories and many more. Rarely will you have an opportunity to hear first hand accounts of what it was like to be on the ground for these events and stories that have changed our society so significantly.

Michele’s multimedia presentation will capture your imagination and fascinate the audience. She also allows for at least a 30 minute question and answer session at the end of the presentation.
